TFeatured Project: Ternus Home remodelnials
Same Old Neighborhood, New Home - Jim and Sandy Ternus were sick of their old kitchen, so they hired DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen to give them the modern style kitchen they were craving.
When Jim and Sandy Ternus decided to remodel their kitchen, they took the word of friends, and hired DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen, a division of Jennings & Woldt Remodeling. The Ternus family wanted to stay in their current neighborhood, but were unhappy with their old kitchen layout, so they hired DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen to give their home a more modern look.
Jim and Sandy wanted a newer kitchen for their family's ranch-style home. Although they loved their house and neighborhood, they wanted a formal dining room and enough space in the kitchen to entertain guests while preparing a meal.
The DreamMaker staff spent eight weeks working on the Ternus family house over the summer, and the result was a completely remodeled kitchen.
Jim and Sandy wanted a modern-style house, which meant a lot of blue, brown, and lime green coloring, ornate woodwork and simple and clean lines.
The DreamMaker team came in and opened up the kitchen area by removing part of the wall separating the kitchen and great room. The great room was transformed into a dining room, and additional electrical wiring and lighting was installed.
Pendant lighting was installed in the stairwell and bar, giving everything a blown glass look. Natural cherry cabinets and colors also complement the kitchen's new natural oak flooring.
Jim and Sandy had new natural oak flooring laid down on the rest of the ground floor as well, including the great room, dining room, master suite and hallway to the childrens' bedroom.
DreamMaker also installed recycled glass backsplash behind the kitchen sink and in the wall area between the cabinets and countertop. Recycled slate was used in the house entryway.
The thing Sandy loves the most about her newly remodeled house is its bright, open and very functional kitchen.
"Jeremy Woldt and the team worked really hard with us to bring to life the vision we had," she said. "We love the design of the kitchen - it's fabulous."
The Ternus family got to know the DreamMaker and Jennings & Woldt Remodeling staff pretty well over the six to eight week period the house was being remodeled.
"They were very professional, and they let us know when they were coming," Sandy said. "They let us know if they were going to do something that would create dust and gave us forewarning so we could be out of the house."
Sandy was also impressed with the DreamMaker staff's high level of professionalism and responsibility.
"They cleaned up after themselves every day after they were done," she said. "They picked up everything and put it back in their truck, or they had a designated area in the garage."
The DreamMaker team worked with her to deliver highquality work and craftsmanship, and was willing to work with the Ternus family to satisfy the designs they had in mind.
"They were very interested in what our ideas were and trying to get our ideas down on paper," Sandy said. "They had lots of ideas for us, and even took us to Milwaukee to look at granite and lighting, which was fabulous because we would have been overwhelmed doing it ourselves."
